RVT, or Equal 1 year veterinarian technician experience

Full Time Educational Requirements for Veterinary Patient Care Team (VPCs) High school diploma or equivalent Certified Veterinary Assistant (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Veterinary experience (preferred) Familiarity with PULSE Practice management software (preferred) Compassionate, detail-oriented Fear Free certified or is familiar with Fear Free techniques Understands patients' body language This position involves handling controlled substances and requires a high level of attention to detail and reliability. Experience with humane animal handling and minimal restraint techniques of healthy, ill and feral patients Timely, accurate date entry and record keeping Motivated Able to multitask Follows instructions/directions accurately and expediently Works with a sense of urgency Understanding of standard veterinary terminology, procedures and animal health issues Ability to understand and communicate basic medical information with colleagues and clients - both verbal and written communication Self-motivated and able to initiate and complete tasks Positive, motivational approach to a team-oriented environment Pays attention to detail in all tasks performed Provides assistance as necessary or requested for RVTs and veterinarians Knowledge of products/medications carried and their proper use
Quality Patient Care:
Adhere to veterinary care protocols for patients including medical, behavioral and general care protocols for the health and wellbeing of the patients Know the basics of patient triage Assist in monitoring hospitalized patient's status and notify RVT or veterinarian if symptoms warrant attention Perform basic diagnostic tests such as, but not limited to, fecal floatation, heartworm tests, FeLV/FIV test, etc. Assist RVTs in preparing patients for surgery Assist RVTs and veterinarians in surgery if required Help obtain blood samples and fecal samples as ordered by veterinary staff Clean and pack surgical instruments Operate autoclave Basic nursing care as directed by RVT or veterinarian Assist with diagnostic imaging Equipment maintenance and operation Comply with all laws pertaining to controlled substances Assist RVTs and doctors in monitoring ICU and hospitalized patients Accurate filling of prescriptions Medical record-keeping Exceptional patient care for pets in exam rooms and hospitalized pets Keeping exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery, dental and hospital kennel stocked, clean and tidy Filling out supply requisites in a timely manner Assist RVTs and veterinarians as and when necessary Client Experience Great client communication Admit and release patients from hospital in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner Provide quality customer service to clients while actively promoting our core values Providing quality care for each client and patient to have a wonderful experience. Facilitate good working relationships through teamwork and collaboration between departments
