Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Veterinary Technician to support our veterinary surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of veterinary procedures, animal physiology, and surgical protocols, ensuring optimal patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in aseptic techniques, and excellent animal handling skills to contribute to successful surgical outcomes and promote animal well-being. Responsibilities Prepare surgical patients by administering anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring proper positioning for procedures. Assist veterinarians during surgeries by maintaining sterile fields, passing instruments, and managing surgical supplies. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during procedures. Conduct laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging such as X-ray to support surgical planning and post-operative assessment. Maintain detailed records of surgical procedures, anesthesia protocols, and patient progress in compliance with clinic standards. Support pet care activities including grooming, pet grooming, and basic animal husbandry to promote overall health. Ensure aseptic techniques are strictly followed to prevent infections and maintain a sterile environment in the operating room. Assist with animal catheterization, wound management, and post-surgical recovery monitoring to optimize patient outcomes. Experience Prior experience working as a veterinary technician or in a veterinary clinical setting is essential. Demonstrated proficiency with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology is required. Experience with kennel management, pet care routines, and dog training enhances effectiveness in this role. Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures supports comprehensive patient care. Familiarity with laboratory techniques, X-ray operation, and veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable. Previous exposure to equine or large animal surgery is a plus but not mandatory. Strong background in animal restraint techniques, aseptic procedures, and veterinary critical care ensures readiness for diverse surgical cases. $1,046.35 - $1,160.00 per week
