Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled, motivated Veterinary Technician to support our veterinarians in delivering and following our core goals at providing compassionate and high quality care to our patients. Within this job role you will assist with daily appointments and surgical procedures by providing excellent client education, administering medications, collecting blood samples and keeping thorough medical records. Our ideal candidate has minimum of 1 year experience working in a fast-paced veterinary hospital, can communicate and collaborate respectfully with staff members. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, handling and packaging laboratory samples . Ensuring efficient and timely work flow, maintain a compassionate, respectful, organized and clean environment. Prepare animals for examinations and surgeries by performing and following hospital protocols which includes but not limited to, collecting full medical histories, supporting pet owners through proper education and communication , venipuncture, administering vaccinations, maintaining surgical and laboratory equipment. Performing and positioning patients for x-ray imaging. Monitor anesthesia providing and ongoing assessment and support during recovery. Handle animals safely using compassionate handling skills, animal restraint techniques, and knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary terminology. Experience Minimum 1-3 years hands-on experience with animal handling within a veterinary hospital. Strong knowledge with veterinary terminology, medications, vaccines, advanced animal care for supporting client education. Knowledge of proper x-ray positioning and safety protocols. Skilled in laboratory experience including sample collection and diagnostics when needed such as, ear cytology and in house laboratory machines . Experience assisting in small animal surgery procedures, including surgical preparations, proper knowledge in anesthetic drug calculations and administrations, proficient in monitoring and recovering patients. Familiarity with electronic medical records, veterinary software and laboratory equipment such as Cornerstone and Idexx. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners on pet care best practices.
Pay:
$16.00 - $25.00 per hour
