Job Description

About us: Matawan Animal Hospital is a well established practice that is recently under new ownership. We're a collaborative and motivated group of veterinary professionals that are dedicated to practicing excellent medicine but also creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our patients and clients. We are a growing practice that is going through exciting improvements including upgrading from paper records to an electronic medical record system (Ezyvet). Our expected go live date is mid June. We're investing in new equipment, offering more services, and expanding our team.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced veterinary technician that is passionate about veterinary medicine. As we're going through a transition, we need someone that can work independently, problem solve, anticipate needs without prompting, and possesses critical thinking skills . The ideal candidate would be excited about helping to create and implement new work flows as we establish new protocols and routines. Customer service and teamwork is a priority so the ideal candidate would possess excellent communication skills. Proficiency in the following are required:
  • Safe and appropriate restraint of both dogs and cats (well behaved and aggressive)
  • Phlebotomy
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Vaccination schedules
  • Understanding of commonly prescribed and utilized medications Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures including preparing equipment and monitoring patient status.
Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory tests, including sample collection, processing, and analysis to aid in accurate diagnosis. Creating estimates for all appointments and procedures Invoicing Cleaning exam rooms and treatment areas between appointments Inventory management Maintenance of equipment Operate radiography (X-ray) equipment to capture clear images for diagnostic purposes while adhering to safety protocols. Manage animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning kennels, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring overall animal comfort. Assist with pet care education for owners on topics like vaccination recommendations, routine lab work (fecal, accuplex, annual screenings), parasite preventatives, pet insurance Support veterinary critical care activities by monitoring hospitalized animals and assisting in emergency situations. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. We would love to add an engaged and committed person to our team.
