Job Description

Vetmetis Veterinary Services, an urgent care and wellness practice located in Monroe, NJ, is currently seeking a part-time or full-time Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team! We are a progressive, small animal practice committed to providing the highest quality care possible to our pet families. The ideal candidate must have a great work ethic and positive attitude, possess strong technical skills and excellent communication skills, and be a team player.
POSITION SUMMARY
Veterinary Technicians assist Veterinarians in the care of animals. They may perform an initial evaluation of the animal's condition, check vital signs, clean and wrap wounds, collect samples, assist with radiographs, and administer medication. They also perform basic lab work, including urinalysis and blood tests, and may assist with procedures. They help during patient examinations and surgical procedures by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Veterinary Technicians also communicate with pet owners and update patient files. This job requires the staff person to work some evenings and weekends. QUALIFICATIONS
Veterinary Technician experience preferred Highly organized and detail oriented Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and in small groups Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Knowledge of basic pharmacology, common diseases, and common veterinary emergencies Ability to properly and safely restrain patients for examinations, radiographs and other procedures Skilled at assessing patients vitals, stability, and pain level
