Job Description

Plainsboro Animal Hospital and Kendall Park Animal hospital are searching for the right candidate to fill our lead veterinary technician role! We are a technology forward, patient-focused veterinary hospital committed to exceptional medical care, outstanding client service, and a supportive team culture. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Veterinary Technician to help guide our clinical team, support hospital operations, and maintain high standards of patient care. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys leadership, mentoring, and hands-on patient care while helping create an efficient and positive workplace. Position Summary The Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow of the technician team, supporting doctors during appointments and procedures, maintaining medical quality standards, and ensuring excellent patient and client care. This position combines clinical expertise with leadership and operational responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and support veterinary technicians and assistants Assist with onboarding and training of new team members Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture Help manage daily staff workflow and patient flow Provide coaching and performance feedback to clinical staff Support hospital leadership with scheduling and staffing needs Assist in maintaining OSHA and safety compliance standards Patient Care Perform and oversee patient assessments and triage Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain treatment sheets Collect laboratory samples including blood, urine, and cytology Place and maintain IV catheters Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients Assist veterinarians during surgeries and medical procedures Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs Maintain accurate medical records Client Communication Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and discharge instructions Provide compassionate communication and support to pet owners Discuss estimates and obtain treatment approvals as directed Ensure high-quality client service and follow-up care Inventory & Equipment Monitor and maintain inventory levels for medical supplies and medications Ensure proper handling and storage of controlled substances Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment Assist with ordering supplies and organizing treatment areas Operational Support Assist in implementing hospital protocols and workflow improvements Ensure cleanliness and organization of treatment and surgical areas Support efficiency and productivity goals within the hospital Help maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards Qualifications Certified/Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred (CVT/LVT/RVT) Minimum 3-5 years of veterinary technician experience Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong anesthesia and surgical monitoring skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented attitude Experience with veterinary software systems preferred Physical Requirements Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Continuing education allowance Uniform allowance Employee pet discount Retirement plan options Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development Schedule Full-time between two practice locations Weekday and rotating weekend availability may be required For any questions, please contact Hailey Wilday, Practice Manager, at hwilday@elevatedvetsolutions.com
