Veterinary Cancer Care is more than a clinic — it is a place of healing, hope and unwavering dedication to advancing oncology for the betterment of all Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and confident Lead Veterinary Technician to help guide our clinical team and support the continued growth of our oncology services. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in leadership, takes initiative, and is passionate about elevating patient care, team performance, and client experience. Oncology experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate who is motivated to learn and grow. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Lead and support the technician and assistant team in daily operations and patient care Ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and comfort Oversee treatment workflows, including chemotherapy and advanced procedures (training provided if needed) Maintain efficient, organized treatment areas Patient Care Excellence Confidently handle and monitor patients undergoing diagnostics and treatments Support anesthesia, sedation, and recovery Recognize and respond to patient changes and emergencies Client Communication Provide clear, compassionate communication with pet owners Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and at-home care Support emotional clients navigating complex oncology cases Training & Mentorship Train and mentor technicians and assistants Serve as the main point-of-contact to uphold staff accountability Work closely with the Practice Manager in overseeing the daily workflow of the clinic Help develop staff skills, protocols, and confidence Promote a positive, accountable team culture Compliance & Standards Ensure adherence to veterinary medical regulations and safety protocols Ensure proper storage and handling of chemotherapeutics, as well as adherence to PPE protocols for chemotherapy administration Maintain proper handling and documentation of controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs Support SOP implementation and continuous improvement What We're Looking For Strong leadership presence and decision-making ability Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized with attention to detail Confident in clinical skills and patient handling Ability to mentor, motivate, and hold team members accountable Passion for high-quality medicine and client care Qualifications Credentialed Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Technician with extensive on-the-job training Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Oncology experience is a plus, but not required Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Endless opportunities for professional growth Health insurance Continuing education allowance Relocation assistance to Santa Fe, NM Why Santa Fe?
