About Us Veterinary Specialty Referral Center of Manhattan is a leading independently-owned specialty practice in Chelseadedicated to providing advanced, compassionate oncologic and internal medicine-focusedcare for pets and their families. Our Oncology department works closely with pet owners and referring veterinarians to deliver cutting-edge cancer treatment in a supportive, collaborative environment. Our 3700 square foot state-of-the-art facility is equipped to provide the complete range of oncologic services including chemotherapy, immmunotherapy, and electrochemotherapy, delivered in our fully-enclosed, spacious Oncology suite. Position Overview We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) with a strong interest or background in oncology to join our team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, compassionate professional who thrives in a fast-paced specialty setting and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities Assist our board-certified Oncologist with appointments, procedures, and treatments Safely prepare and administer chemotherapy and other oncologic medications following established protocols Monitor patients during treatment and recovery, recognizing and responding to changes in clinical condition - anesthesia experience is not strictly required, but is preferred Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and sample collection Maintain accurate and thorough medical records Educate and communicate with clients regarding treatment plans, home care, and follow-ups Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemotherapy agents and hazardous materials Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Collaborate effectively with doctors and support staff across departments Qualifications Current Veterinary Technician License (LVT, CVT, or RVT) in New York State Minimum of 1-2 years of specialty clinical experience (previousoncology experience stronglypreferred) Strong technical skills, including IV catheter placement, blood draws, and anesthesia monitoring Knowledge of chemotherapy safety protocols (training provided if needed) Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Compassionate, patient-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented Willingness to continue learning and advancing skills in veterinary oncology Willingness to train additional skills (eg, CT scanning of patients) Benefits Competitive salary (based on experience) Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Scrubs provided Continuing education opportunities Employee pet care discounts Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunities for growth within a specialty practice How to Apply If you are a dedicated veterinary technician looking to make a meaningful impact in oncology care, we'd love to hear from you.
