Port Jefferson, NY 11777 Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team in Port Jefferson, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent technical skills, and a passion for providing compassionate care to animals. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments. Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Monitor and care for hospitalized animals, including pain management and wound care. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation. Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, and post-treatment care. Operate and maintain veterinary equipment and instruments. Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols. Qualifications Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification in the state of New York. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a veterinary technician. Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to animal care. Proficient in using veterinary software and electronic medical records.
