Animal Care Technician - Loading Dock Book here if interested: https://talentassistant.actalentservices.com/assistant/bookings/BfUTMTxl Job Description This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both the loading dock operations and the vivarium cage wash under direct supervision. The role involves receiving and processing incoming products, managing inventory, restocking supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE), and supporting vivarium operations as needed. Vivarium responsibilities include cleaning cages and equipment, maintaining the facility, and ensuring seamless daily operations. Responsibilities Receive and inspect incoming products, promptly reporting any discrepancies, labeling, and storing all products and PPE in designated locations. Operate equipment to safely handle chemicals, ensuring the loading dock remains clean and organized. Communicate professionally with management, colleagues, and suppliers/vendors. Follow instructions carefully and seek clarification when needed. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail. Clean cages, equipment, water bottles, and food containers in the vivarium. Perform janitorial maintenance of vivarium rooms and restock supplies. Conduct preventative maintenance of vivarium equipment and supplies. Complete monthly sanitization of vivarium equipment and facilities. Maintain accurate records of supplies and equipment and restock as necessary. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Essential Skills Cleaning Sterilization Animal husbandry Experience working with mice Cage wash Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent technical certificate required. Pursuit of Purina and/or AALAS certification at the ALAT level is desired (required within the first year of employment). A minimum of one year of experience in animal care is helpful but not mandatory. Work Environment There are several vivariums on campus, each with its own individual team. A good team player who knows how to follow basic SOPs and learn lab safety is essential. The typical work environment includes working with 10-12 others on a shift. This is a first shift opportunity, and candidates must be flexible to work overtime. Hours are Monday through Friday with an 8-hour shift, which can start as early as 5 am. Weekend and holiday work is required as this position is deemed essential personnel. The company offers a supportive culture with a gym and cafeteria onsite. There is also a fully staffed daycare planned for the future, and opportunities for career growth within the team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tarrytown, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
