Veterinary Technician I/II (Care) Classification Minimum Requirements Classification Minimum Requirements are the baseline requirements for Staff Titles and Academic Titles found at the University of Florida. Veterinary Technician I High school diploma or equivalent and one year relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Veterinary Technician II Credentialed veterinary technician.
Job Description:
The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is a 40,000 sq foot hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC), a high profile 300-acre equine facility in Ocala, 30 minutes south of Gainesville. UF Veterinary Hospitals at WEC provides Small Animal primary care and urgent care services and Equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging services. A Veterinary Technician at the UFVH at WEC, assists clinicians with equine and small animal examinations, treatments, and hospitalization nursing care. An individual in this position must possess horse handling skills, a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine, and enjoy learning new things. Why work for UF? Typically schedules consist of 8 or 10 hour shifts. Will be assigned to a primary shift, generally: Day shift, Evening Shift or Night Shift. Reassignment to a different primary shift, rotating shifts, split shifts and extended shifts may be required and assigned depending on hospital needs. Assigned days may vary Sunday through Saturday, weekends and holidays included. This position also requires working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or "on-call duty." This individual is considered essential personnel which may include reporting to work during Main Campus closures.
