Job Description

Pet Emergency Treatment and Specialties is Central, Pennsylvania's oldest and largest, independently owned specialty referral practice and emergency hospital. Due to continued growth and expansion, PETS is currently looking for a full time, experienced, motivated Veterinary Technician to join our Surgical Department We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented veterinary nurse to join our Surgery Department team. This position plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, team-focused, and passionate about anesthesia, surgical nursing, and patient advocacy. Primary Responsibilities Prepare surgical patients for procedures, including patient assessment and anesthetic preparation Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients safely and efficiently Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures Monitor patient vitals and maintain accurate anesthesia records Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and medication administration Maintain sterile surgical environments and proper instrument handling/sterilization Provide post-operative patient care and pain management monitoring Communicate patient updates and discharge instructions to clients when needed Maintain accurate medical records Assist with inventory management and stocking of surgical supplies Collaborate with doctors and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and excellent patient care Qualifications Veterinary nursing experience required Surgical or anesthesia experience required Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred but not required Strong anesthesia monitoring and patient care skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to lift and restrain animals safely Flexibility to assist with emergency or urgent surgical cases as needed Schedule Full-time
