Job Description

The Veterinary Technician supports the care and welfare of laboratory animals in a research environment. This role involves assisting with animal husbandry, research procedures, and regulatory compliance while ensuring the health, safety, and ethical treatment of animals used in research. Key Responsibilities Provide routine care, health monitoring, and treatments for laboratory animals. Assist researchers with animal handling and research procedures, including injections, sample collection, and post-procedure monitoring. Ensure compliance with IACUC protocols, institutional policies, and animal welfare regulations. Maintain accurate animal health records, procedure logs, and inventory documentation. Monitor and maintain facility supplies, equipment, and cleanliness standards. Train staff and researchers on proper animal handling, care techniques, and compliance procedures. Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns promptly. Support a safe, humane, and organized laboratory environment Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology, Laboratory Animal Science, or a related field. LVT, RVT, or CVT certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in veterinary practice or laboratory animal care. AALAS certification is a plus. Knowledge of laboratory animal handling, veterinary procedures, and regulatory standards. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
