Richter Animal Hospital is looking for a reliable Veterinary Technician to join our team. For this specific role, we are looking for a Veterinary Technician who is experienced and confident. Specifically, you must be comfortable performing dental cleanings, dental radiographs, assisting in routine and specialty surgeries, properly setting up anesthetic machines & equipment, intubating, extubating, and recovery. In addition to the "soft" skills needed to be a success, this position also requires proficiency/familiarity with the following responsibilities:
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain and record patient histories and educate clients on prevention, medicines, recommendations, treatment plans, etc. Experience in blood from jugular and cephalic veins; Ability to easily place IV catheters Scale and polish teeth during routine dental surgery/Perform dental xrays during dental cleanings Able to consistently and accurately calculate common drug dosages for intravenous and oral medicines Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests in hematology, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems Ability to read ear cytology, urine cytology, etc. Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, serums and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians Administer fluids and blood products as prescribed by the veterinarian Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery. Assure that monitoring and support equipment such as anesthetic machines, cardiac monitors, scopes and breathing apparatus are in good working condition Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures using a range of high-tech diagnostic equipment including electrocardiographic, radiographic and ultrasonographic equipment Take and process radiographs Communicate with and educate owners Other duties as needed •Please note that the salary varies depending on background, education, experience, licensure, and other variables.•
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
