Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lead Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced, high-energy veterinary team. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee emergency patient care, coordinate technician activities, and support the veterinary team in delivering exceptional medical services. Your expertise in animal handling, critical care, and veterinary procedures will ensure our patients receive prompt, compassionate treatment while fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead by example in a busy emergency setting, making a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners. Duties Supervise and mentor emergency veterinary technicians and support staff, promoting best practices in animal care and clinical procedures Assist veterinarians during complex emergency procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and advanced diagnostics Coordinate patient flow, triage incoming cases, and prioritize treatments based on urgency and medical needs Perform advanced animal handling techniques for dogs, cats, and other small animals to ensure safety and comfort during examinations and treatments Conduct laboratory tests, interpret results, and maintain accurate medical records for emergency cases Support diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-ray imaging while maintaining aseptic technique and animal safety protocols Oversee kennel management, pet grooming, pet care routines, and ensure proper animal husbandry standards are followed Maintain detailed documentation of treatments administered, medications given, and procedural notes in compliance with hospital protocols Facilitate communication between team members to ensure seamless patient care delivery during high-pressure situations Qualifications Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in emergency or critical care settings Extensive knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care practices Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team of veterinary technicians Proficiency in laboratory procedures, X-ray techniques, and aseptic surgical techniques Experience with dog handling training methods and pet grooming techniques is preferred Ability to perform animal catheterization, restraint techniques for various species, and handle animals safely under stressful conditions Strong understanding of veterinary critical care protocols including triage assessment and emergency stabilization Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinarians, clients, and team members Perks & Benefits 401(k) with employer matching Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance Paid time off + parental leave Tuition and professional development assistance Access to free HIPAA compliant therapeutic support Discounts on veterinary care Discounted membership at Gold's Gym to support your health and fitness goals Compassionate and learning-focused work environment Meaningful work helping pets and the people who love them Join us as a Lead Emergency Veterinary Technician where your expertise will help save lives daily!
