About Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists (VCVS) is Austin's only privately owned specialty and emergency animal hospital. Located in Bee Cave, we provide advanced medical care for pets in a compassionate, calm environment. Our team is close-knit, mission-driven, and dedicated to both excellence and empathy. Position Overview The purpose of this position is to provide skilled technical support to ensure patients consistently receive the highest level of care. This role works closely with the veterinary team to maintain smooth daily operations and uphold our standards of quality, safety, and communication. The Technician follows established protocols, assists with procedures, and supports training efforts by modeling proper techniques and teamwork. Any questions, concerns, or unusual situations are communicated to the Lead Technician or Director to ensure timely resolution and continuous improvement in patient care. What You'll Do Report treatment progress, adverse reactions, or client communications to the lead for proper documentation and follow-up Provide emergency care to animals, monitoring their condition and administering treatments as directed by the veterinarian Assist with diagnostic procedures, including radiographs, blood work, and other tests Prepare animals and equipment for medical procedures and administer medications, fluids, and treatments, ensuring proper dosages and monitoring for adverse reactions Operate, clean, and maintain veterinary medical equipment such as monitoring devices, anesthesia machines, and diagnostic tools Communicate with clients, providing updates on their pet's condition, explaining treatment plans, and addressing concerns with compassion and professionalism Assist with patient discharge, providing clear aftercare instructions, medication details, and follow-up appointments Maintain cleanliness in treatment areas, patient cages, and equipment areas Participate in training sessions and continuing education opportunities Participate in on-call shifts to cover emergencies, ensuring flexibility and team support during urgent cases Accurately document patient information, treatments, procedures, and client interactions in the hospital's record-keeping system in a timely and organized manner Adhere to hospital safety protocols and industry standards, ensuring a safe environment for both patients and staff Follow all legal and regulatory requirements, including infection control and safety procedures Attend all department and hospital staff meetings What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience in a 24-hour emergency or specialty hospital. Demonstrated ability to assist in emergency stabilization, anesthesia induction, and post-operative recovery. Experience in fast-paced, multi-doctor environments. Familiarity with specialty services such as internal medicine, surgery, or critical care. Exceptional emotional control, empathy, and reliability under pressure. Demonstrates initiative and a growth-oriented mindset; pursues continuing education in emergency and critical care.
