Job Description

  • PAY is dependent upon experience.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Looking for part-time technician to work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Hours fluctuate depending on case load but may reach 30+ hours/week. Our practice offers specialty procedures not commonly performed in general practice. We use image-guidance to perform non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures on a referral basis only. Image-guidance systems include CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and endoscopy. We also treat certain cancers with radiation therapy using HDR brachytherapy with human radiation oncologists consulting. We schedule appointments Monday-Thursdays, but be prepared as they can be longer days. We are also closed on all major holidays.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Veterinary anesthetist. Placing IV catheters, calculating drug doses, monitoring surgical fluids, proficiency monitoring vital signs during anesthesia and monitoring patients during recovery.
  • Animal restraint. Hold patient for IV catheter placement, restraint during ultrasound and sometimes echocardiograms.
  • Processing endoscopy equipment when needed. Cleaning and sterilizing delicate equipment.
  • Performing CT studies. Patient positioning and setting up CT evaluations.
  • Assisting during radiation therapy. Anesthesia monitoring.
  • Surgery assistant. Assisting during procedures, operating endoscopy equipment as needed.
  • Overall hospital maintenance. Keeping the hospital organized, clean and sterile.
  • Working together as a team to be as efficient as we can with the patient's safety a top priority.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a veterinary technician who is qualified and confident in patient management and monitoring sick, old, critical patients sometimes for long periods of time during anesthesia. Technicians should be cool-headed during stressful situations associated with anesthetic procedures in geriatric patients. Employees should be reliable, punctual, flexible, well trained, and love their job. Prior experience in CT, radiation, and endoscopy equipment is helpful, but not required. However, experience in anesthesia monitoring is required.
