Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Veterinary Technician duties are to assist veterinarians with clinical and clerical tasks while providing the best patient care.Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
Assist veterinarian with procedures and treatments as needed. Daily patient care, prep, and administration of PO, IV, and IM medications. Maintain proper documentation in the electronic and written medical record. Stock, hospital, and exam areas with medications, bandage materials, and equipment. Take dictation from veterinarian, enter into the electronic medical record. Prepare invoices and process payment transactions. Prepare discharge instructions and prescriptions as per doctor's notes. Trotting and jogging horses during lameness exams. Accurate obtaining and storage of in and out of house laboratory samples. Efficient and accurate use of in-house laboratory equipment. Proper care and maintenance of instruments and equipment. Keep the clinic clean and presentable. General barn maintenance including, but not limited to stall cleaning, feeding, and watering. Relay information to / from clients to / from doctors, staff, and management. Process in-house prescription and supplement orders. Maintain a professional physical appearance and attitude. Interact with clients in a professional manner. Thorough communication regarding patient cases to the incoming shift (hospital turnover) Foaling out mares - labor and delivery assistance and post-foaling care. Mandatory rotating schedule for weekends and observed Holiday's. On call Duties as neededNOTE:
