Job Description

Cottage Lake Veterinary Hospital has a current opening for a full-time LVT! We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 8:30am to 4:00pm. The main purpose of this position is to assist with patient care tasks during surgical procedures and throughout medical appointments. These include patient handling, IV catheter placement, drawing blood, running diagnostics, taking radiographs, filling medications, monitoring anesthesia, scribing chart information, and client education.
General Duties:
Treat all clients and team members respectfully and with empathy Relay messages to team members promptly and appropriately Document client communication in medical record Complete follow-up lists Draws up vaccines and other materials for appointments Enter charges and create estimates for services accurately Explain invoices when clients have questions Know fees for routine services Receive and unpack orders Promote hospital programs and encourage client compliance Assist doctors with any patient care tasks, including but not limited to: Low-stress animal handling Blood draws Performing nail trims, anal gland expression, and ear cleaning Running diagnostic tests Taking radiographs Placing intravenous catheters Maintaining fluid lines for patients receiving fluids Prepping patients for surgical procedures Monitoring patient vitals during sedation, anesthesia, and recovery periods Performing grade 1-4 dental procedures, with a willingness to learn how to perform extractions Calculating and preparing constant-rate infusions under the supervision of the DVM Documenting patient information appropriately
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Successful completion of an accredited LVT program with active WA LVT licensure
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 50 pounds Able to hear and speak English clearly; bilingual applicants encouraged to apply Able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods Able to type quickly and accurately Able to work in noisy conditions
