The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of animal care, veterinary procedures, and clinical support functions. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting veterinarians with diagnostics and treatments, and ensuring the well-being of a diverse range of animals. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment committed to animal health and welfare. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining sterile conditions using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments. Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed medical records, documenting treatments, medications, and observations with precision. Provide services such as administering medications under veterinary supervision. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental cleanings or treatments. Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status for our dogs & cats patients. Assist with radiology procedures such as X-ray imaging while adhering to safety protocols for animals and staff. Handle animal catheterization and perform basic animal anatomy assessments to aid in diagnostics or treatment plans. Contribute to veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and supporting emergency interventions when necessary. Requirements Certification as a Veterinary Technician from an accredited program is mandatory. Proven experience working in veterinary clinics or hospitals with familiarity in veterinary terminology and procedures. Strong knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices. Experience with laboratory testing techniques relevant to veterinary medicine. Ability to handle animals confidently using proper restraint techniques for various species including dogs, cats, horses, and small mammals. Familiarity with animal handling & restraint best practices. Knowledge of dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry procedures. Skills in X-ray operation along with understanding of aseptic technique during surgical or diagnostic procedures. Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively within a team environment dedicated to animal health. Candidates must be flexible and may occasionally be required to cover shifts at sister location in Mt. Pleasant, WI.
