Job Description

Job Summary HVAC / Mechanic 2 We are seeking an experienced HVAC / Mechanic 2 with a strong background in commercial and industrial mechanical construction. This is a piping role for a mechanic with 2+ years of field experience who can work productively, follow drawings, and support the installation of HVAC systems on active jobsites. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with HVAC piping systems, while also being comfortable assisting with ductwork installation and controls-related installation. Responsibilities Install HVAC and mechanical piping systems on commercial and industrial projects Work with chilled water, hot water, condenser water, gas, refrigerant, and hydronic piping systems Measure, cut, thread, groove, press, braze, solder, and assemble piping systems as required Install pipe supports, hangers, valves, fittings, strainers, pumps, coils, and equipment connections Assist with mechanical room installations, equipment tie-ins, and piping rough-in Read and interpret mechanical drawings, details, and field layouts Assist with ductwork installation, layout, supports, connections, and equipment tie-ins as needed Support installation of registers, grilles, diffusers, dampers, access doors, and related air-side components Coordinate with foremen, lead mechanics, project managers, sheet metal crews, controls contractors, and other trades Assist with basic controls-related items, including thermostat locations, sensor coordination, control wiring pathways, damper actuator coordination, and equipment control points Identify and communicate field conflicts, missing materials, tool needs, or coordination issues Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Follow company safety standards and jobsite requirements Complete assigned work efficiently and to company quality standards Qualifications Minimum 2 years of HVAC piping or mechanical construction experience Strong hands-on piping experience required General understanding of commercial ductwork installation preferred Basic familiarity with HVAC controls, thermostats, sensors, dampers, actuators, and control coordination preferred Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow layout direction Familiarity with commercial HVAC piping systems Experience with copper, black pipe, grooved piping, threaded piping, ProPress, PVC/CPVC, and other common piping systems Ability to work independently on assigned tasks Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Must be able to lift, carry, climb, bend, and work in active construction environments OSHA 30 preferred Valid driver's license preferred Preferred Experience Commercial HVAC construction Hydronic piping systems Chilled water and hot water piping Refrigerant piping Gas piping Mechanical room piping Pump, boiler, chiller, air handler, and coil tie-ins Ductwork installation and equipment connections VAV boxes, dampers, diffusers, grilles, registers, and air distribution components Basic controls coordination ProPress, Victaulic/grooved piping, brazing, soldering, threading, and pipe fabrication What We Are Looking For We are looking for a reliable, skilled mechanic who can contribute to piping-heavy HVAC projects while also supporting ductwork and basic controls coordination when needed. This role is ideal for someone who has progressed beyond entry-level work and can take direction, work efficiently, and deliver quality installation in the field. This is a construction-focused role, not a service technician position.
