Job Description
MUST HAVE HVAC EXPERIENCE
Position Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and growth of a multi-trade/location business offering HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services. This role oversees daily operations, financial health, team development, customer satisfaction, and process improvement across all divisions. The Operations Manager will ensure operational excellence, drive profitability, and lead strategic initiatives to support sustainable business growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Key responsibilities include but not limited to: Operations Management Oversee day-to-day field and office operations across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical departments. Ensure efficient scheduling, dispatch, job completion, and quality control. Maintain safety and compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and licensing requirements. Financial Oversight Manage company-wide and division-level budgets, P&L, and job costing. Monitor financial performance and implement cost controls to meet profitability targets. Review estimates, invoices, and financial reports for accuracy and margin performance. Leadership & Team Development Hire, train, and manage division managers, field supervisors, and administrative staff. Promote a high-performance culture with accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance reviews and implement professional development plans. Customer Experience & Service Quality Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by enforcing service standards and quick issue resolution. Oversee customer feedback systems and drive service enhancements across trades. Support sales and estimating teams in pursuing new business and maintaining key relationships. Process & Technology Improvement Identify and implement systems and technologies to improve operational efficiency and communication. Drive adoption of job management, CRM, and accounting platforms (e.g., FieldEdge, QuickBooks). Standardize workflows and reporting across departments. Strategic Planning & Growth Collaborate with ownership on strategic goals, expansion plans, and growth opportunities. Evaluate market trends, competitor activity, and new service opportunities. Lead integration efforts for new acquisitions or trade expansions when applicable.Qualifications:
5+ years in a leadership or general management role within HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related trades. Strong understanding of field operations, project management, and job costing. Proven experience managing budgets, profit margins, and business unit performance. Effective leadership and team-building skills across diverse trade teams. Working knowledge of applicable codes, permitting, and safety regulations. Proficient in operational software (ServiceTitan, or similar), MS Office, and reporting tools.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing multi-trade service operations under one roof. Background in both residential and commercial service and installation. Familiarity with WIP billing, contract billing, and permitting requirements. Experience with process improvement or business transformation initiatives.
