HVAC/R Technician

Job Summary The HVAC/R Technician is responsible for the diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining HVAC refrigeration equipment in commercial environments. The person best suited for this role must have a strong understanding of refrigeration systems and HVAC operations, including commercial refrigeration units, walk-in coolers/freezers, and ice machines. Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Technical Skills:

Maintain, diagnose, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, including walk-ins, reach-in coolers, freezers, and ice machines. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on electrical and mechanical components of refrigeration systems. Identify and correct issues in refrigeration cycles: evaporation, compression, condensation, and expansion. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical schematics. Service, repair, and replace defective parts and equipment Evaluate the operation of equipment using vacuum pumps, digital and analog gauges, leak detectors, recovery machines, and hand tools Be proactive in refrigerant leak checking, pressures, and repairs Conduct refrigerant recovery and recharge using industry-standard practices and EPA regulations. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC issues

Organization and Record Keeping:

Complete detailed and accurate notes for all assigned jobs; including diagnostics, work performed, and parts used. Communicate with Scheduling Coordinator and HVAC Manager to ensure all planned maintenance/install activities are completed efficiently and at the highest possible standards Monitor and log refrigerant usage within assigned stores Complete equipment inventories as assigned

Other Essential Duties:

Provide outstanding customer service Maintain company-issued vehicle, tools, and equipment Maintain clean and safe conditions in machine and electrical rooms on each jobsite Participate in company's on-call after hours emergency program Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

3-5 years of HVAC/R service and repair, preferably in commercial settings. Outstanding customer service skills Solid understanding of the refrigeration cycle and system components. Proficient knowledge of refrigerants including R-22, R-410A, R-404A, R-290, R-134a, and R-407C. Must own appropriate tools including digital gauges, leak detectors, vacuum pump, and hand tools. Strong computer skills - must be able to use smart phone and peripheral applications Familiarity with the workings and maintenance of ice machines Ability and willingness to work overtime or weekends, if necessary Valid Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record EPA Universal Certification - required
