Job Description

We're seeking a Conveyance/Hydraulic Modeling Engineer to help with water and wastewater system planning, modeling, and design development services for a variety of related projects. In this role, you'll work with other members of our local, regional, and national teams to perform specialized hydraulic modeling and capital planning assignments for conveyance and management systems of varied sizes, configurations, and capacities, and for a variety of clients. Engagements will focus on wastewater and/or potable water systems, but may also involve irrigation, hydropower, and stormwater applications, supporting transmission, distribution, collection, treatment facilities, flood control, industrial facilities, or other needs. This work involves new and innovative approaches and technologies in hydraulic modeling, system planning and evaluation, and solutions development using industry leading hydraulic modeling software, such as InfoWorks ICM, Mike Plus, EPA
SWMM, PC
SWMM, SewerGEMs, InfoWaterPro, WaterGEMs, EPANet, Optimizer, and ArcGIS Pro. In this work, you will be performing technical tasks to support multiple concurrent projects through all phases of planning, execution, and closeout. Work may include data collection, analysis, documentation, and support during design and construction. You will be expected to coordinate with other project disciplines, task leads, and project managers. Depending on project size and complexity and your experience level, you may have the opportunity to serve as a technical subject matter expert, task lead, and/or design manager. - Relevant coursework, previous intern experience, and/or project work experience in water/wastewater system and infrastructure related disciplines, ArcGIS, hydraulics, piping and open channel systems, or conveyance design.
- Proficiency with MS Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and with technical writing, editing, and presentations.
- Must work well in a group or team atmosphere.
- Attention to detail and quality, strong time management and organization skills. Ideally, you'll also have:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- Two or more years of progressive engineering experience in water/wastewater system and infrastructure related disciplines, hydraulic evaluations, and design (water resources, stormwater, drinking water, and/or wastewater), including with flow management, diversion, conveyance, piping and open channel systems, pumping, control valves, storage, other typical system hydraulic structures and elements, and controls.
- Experience with technical hydraulic model development, calibration, and evaluation using the modeling software packages listed above, or similar, along with ArcGIS, in the planning and analysis of water or wastewater systems, networks, and infrastructure.
- Experience developing, planning, advancing, and delivering engineering modeling studies and associated technical reports and presentations.
- Familiarity and experience with typical and related system master planning approaches, technical and industry standards, regulations, and requirements.
- Experience with statistical data analysis and programming, such as Python Scripting for GIS and Visual Basic for Excel.
