Job Description
HIRING!!!!!!!! $20-22/HR - Production Laborer Job Description The Production Laborer supports several high-volume manufacturing areas by performing physically demanding, repetitive tasks that keep concrete and bagged products moving efficiently through the production process. This role involves hand stacking heavy materials, inspecting products for quality, assisting with basic machine maintenance under supervision, and maintaining a clean and safe work area in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Hand stack concrete blocks weighing approximately 20-70 pounds in a fast-paced production setting. Grind concrete blocks to create a polished finish and smooth texture while maintaining consistent quality. Feed concrete blocks onto conveyors to be tumbled for an antique look, then manually offload and stack finished products onto pallets. Inspect concrete blocks coming off the kiln line for chips, cracks, and other defects, and perform basic quality checks throughout the shift. Identify and discard defective products into scrap bins, which may weigh between 40-90 pounds. Support automated palletizing operations by monitoring wrapped pallets and maintaining production flow, with an expectation of completing 20 or more pallets per shift. Assist with lockout/tagout procedures under the supervision of an internal employee to support safe machine maintenance activities. Help with general machine and shop maintenance, including changing out molds and colors, cleaning under conveyor belts, and performing basic housekeeping tasks. Sweep, shovel gravel, and clean work areas regularly to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient production environment. Work on the bag plant line filling bags with dirt or other materials, tying them securely, and stacking them on pallets. Lift and palletize 50-70 pound bags of sand or concrete mix from the conveyor on the Tube Sand line in a very fast-paced, highly physical environment. Maintain production pace and meet or exceed daily pallet targets, understanding that performance is measured by the number of pallets completed. Perform highly repetitive tasks, often standing on a line for extended periods while checking or handling the same product for multiple days in a row. Follow all safety protocols and demonstrate a strong safety mindset in a heavy industrial environment. Maintain work quality and consistency while managing the physical demands of 10-hour shifts. Prepare to learn additional machine and equipment operations after conversion to a permanent role, expanding responsibilities over time. Essential Skills Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting 50-70 pound bags of concrete mix and tube sand repeatedly for 10-hour shifts. Comfort working in a very repetitive, monotonous production environment while maintaining focus and quality. Experience or familiarity with general production, stacking, and loading tasks in a manufacturing or similar setting. Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments with production quotas and repetitive tasks. Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures under supervision. Mechanical aptitude to assist with basic maintenance tasks and to support future progression into machine operator roles. Prior experience in manufacturing, forklift operation, and/or physical labor is preferred. Ability to work effectively on a small team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors. Reliable attendance and the ability to work a Monday-Thursday schedule from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with Fridays as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in concrete, construction, landscaping, farming, or farm work that demonstrates comfort with physical outdoor or industrial labor. Experience using shovels and other basic hand tools in labor-intensive environments. Exposure to maintenance technician tasks or environments where mechanical aptitude was required. Forklift experience is beneficial for long-term growth, with the opportunity for formal training after conversion to a permanent role. Interest in developing into a machine operator position over time through on-the-job learning and training. Why Work Here? This opportunity offers a clear, structured path for career growth, with consistent pay increases, bonus opportunities, and the potential to advance into higher-paying machine operator roles. The company invests in its people, offering strong benefits that are highly competitive within the industry and recognizing performance with prizes and gifts. Employees are treated with respect and valued for their hard work, creating a culture that focuses on long-term careers rather than short-term jobs. With significant room for advancement and ongoing skill development, this is an excellent environment for individuals who want stability, growth, and a future in manufacturing. Work Environment The role is based in a pre-mix concrete and building materials plant that produces hardscapes, masonry products, packaged cement mixes, lawn and garden materials, and related items. You will work in a small shop environment with approximately 4-5 employees, fostering close teamwork and clear communication. Conditions can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and the nature of the work means the area can become messy, dusty, and covered with gravel or concrete residue. The job involves standing for long periods, frequent bending and lifting, and working around conveyors, kilns, and other industrial equipment. The primary schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with Fridays worked as needed based on production demands. While there is no forklift or heavy machine operation while on contract, after conversion you may receive training on forklifts and other machines, expanding your range of duties and responsibilities. Appropriate work attire should be durable and suitable for a dusty, physically demanding industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.
