Industrial Valve Spray Painter An Industrial Valve Spray Painter is responsible for applying protective and aesthetic coatings to high-pressure valves, actuators, and related components. Industrial Valve Spray Painter Core Responsibilities Surface Preparation:
Degrease, sand, mask, and blast valve surfaces to ensure proper coating adhesion.
Equipment Operation:
Set up and maintain HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) , airless, and conventional spray systems.
Coating Application:
Apply primers, epoxies, urethanes, and zinc-rich coatings according to specific micron (thickness) requirements.
Technical Compliance:
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and Paint Specification Sheets to ensure the correct coating system is used for each project.
Quality Control:
Use wet/dry film thickness gauges to verify coating depth and perform visual inspections for runs, sags, or "holidays" (missed spots).
Safety & Maintenance:
Handle hazardous materials (solvents, thinners) according to SDS guidelines and perform daily cleaning of spray booths and guns. Industrial Valve Spray Painter Required Skills & Qualifications Requirement Description Experience 2+ years in industrial liquid coating (automotive or oil & gas preferred). Technical Knowledge Familiarity with mixing ratios, pot life, and induction times for multi-part resins. Physical Stamina Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear a full-face respirator for extended periods. Attention to Detail Precision masking of threaded areas, stems, and flange faces where paint is prohibited. Industrial Valve Spray Painter Technical Standards In this role, you will be expected to work within the parameters of industry standards such as:
NACE/SSPC
Knowledge of surface preparation grades (e.g., SP-6, SP-10).
DFT Measurement:
Ensuring the Dry Film Thickness matches the engineering spec, often calculated as: $$DFT = WFT \times \% \text{Solids by Volume}$$
Industrial Valve Spray Painter Work Environment Setting:
Industrial paint booth/shop environment.
Hazards:
Exposure to fumes, noise, and heavy machinery.
Gear:
Full PPE required, including Tyvek suits, gloves, and supplied-air or cartridge respirators.
Note:
A successful candidate doesn't just "paint"—they provide the primary line of defense against infrastructure failure and corrosion.
