Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for an active, hospital-wide program for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases by utilizing and adhering to nationally recognized standards of practice. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies related to infection prevention and control practices across healthcare, including in the hospital and clinics. The Infection Prevention Coordinator collaborates with the healthcare team, long-term care, and community agencies to address infectious disease concerns and other relevant topics. The Infection Preventionist is appointed to the position by the governing body based on recommendations from medical staff and nursing leadership.
EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, microbiology, epidemiology, or related health field required. BLS certification required. Must obtain CIC within 2 years of hire if not currently certified.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience or education in Infection Prevention and Control preferred. Ability to learn and navigate computer systems; including electronic health records, Microsoft office applications, and online reporting systems. Ability to collect and analyze data to identify trends or areas of concern. Ability to create and present data visualizations effectively. Ability to create, decipher, and apply data definitions accurately for consistent and reliable reporting of infection prevention data. Must have the ability to demonstrate self-confidence and positive attitude toward self and others. Maintains commitment and enthusiasm to goal achievement. Excellent collaborator and communication skills required.
Salary Range:
$31.00-$43.40
