Job Description

RN or LPN License Required! Regency Laurel Hill, an intimate 34-bed community with a family feel, strives to provide excellent care and a sense of belonging. The Nurse Infection Preventionist evaluates the quality of resident care and outcomes as they relate to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community-Acquired Infections (CAI) in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Collects prepare and analyzes HAI data. Presents infection data and makes recommendations for actions. Monitors Employee compliance with infection control standards through the use of barriers and infection prevention measures. Prepares and presents education for the staff, residents, and families. Serves as a resource to all departments and personnel. This position is also responsible for Staff Development. The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for developing the competency of nursing staff to care for residents/patients of various adult ages and needs. Staff Development assesses the learning needs of the staff, plans and implements programs to meet these needs, and evaluations the outcomes.
Infection Preventionist Job Requirements:
A system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services. Written standards, policies, and procedures for the program must include a system of surveillance designed to identify possible communicable diseases or infections before they can spread to other persons in the facility. When and to whom possible incidents of communicable disease or infection should be reported to make sure family and Medical Director are notified. Standard transmission-based precautions are to be followed to prevent the spread of infections. When and how isolation should be used for a resident including the type and duration of the isolation, depending upon the infectious agent or organism involved. A system for recording incidents under the facility's IPCP and the corrective actions taken by the facility. Conduct outbreak investigations. Responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including the CD Maintain a system for reporting possible incidents of communicable diseases to local, state, or national agencies as required. Serves as the on-site IPC for
COVID-19
prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action Must be knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program Participate in staff meetings. Assist with staffing needs when necessary. Oversee the education of staff in different departments in regards to infection. Personally inspect residents with infection Be responsible for completing all documentation on paper or the EMR system. Be responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of the Skilled Nursing Facility. Accountable for surveillance of healthcare-acquired and community-acquired infections.
Staff Development Job Requirements:
Plans, schedules, and implements general orientation for all new employees. Provides orientation to all employees using the appropriate materials. Schedules orientation programs as necessary. Plans, coordinates, schedules, and presents in-services for all departments (mandatory, voluntary, and identified needs). Coordinates, implements and maintains records of all in-servicing for all staff. Coordinates employee health programs and maintains employee records. Shares "on-call" status with other facility nursing managers. Assists in orientation and training of employees as assigned. Maintains confidentiality of resident information. Uses and/or discloses only a minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.

Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensures leaders are informed of appropriate issues. Investigate suspected outbreaks.
