About ARES Corporation ARES Corporation is an employee-owned aerospace and engineering services company supporting critical national programs across NASA, the Department of Defense, and other Federal agencies. For more than 60 years, ARES has provided innovative engineering, program management, safety and mission assurance, information technology, and mission operations support for some of the nation s most complex and technically challenging missions. ARES is the prime contractor for the Wallops Range Contract (WRC) supporting NASA s Wallops Flight Facility. WRC provides mission-critical range operations, engineering, maintenance, sustainment, and technical services supporting orbital and suborbital launches, aircraft operations, telemetry, radar, communications, and associated range infrastructure. Position Overview ARES is seeking an experienced Information Technology Specialist III to support mission-critical information technology and cybersecurity operations at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. This position supports the design, development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of complex IT systems and infrastructure supporting launch range operations and associated mission systems. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership across network administration, telecommunications, cybersecurity, systems integration, and IT infrastructure management while supporting secure and reliable operations in a highly technical mission environment. The key responsibilities of this position include: Administer, configure, monitor, and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments supporting mission and operational systems, including system patching, account management, backup and recovery, and performance optimization. Support enterprise system administration activities including virtualization platforms, Active Directory management, storage systems, system hardening, configuration management, and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues across operational IT environments.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Support the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of enterprise IT systems and infrastructure. Perform systems requirements development, allocation, and technical analysis for IT and mission support systems. Administer and support LAN/WAN environments, telecommunications systems, and network infrastructure. Provide network and systems management, administration, and troubleshooting support. Support cybersecurity operations including vulnerability mitigation, intrusion detection, authentication systems, and cybersecurity compliance activities. Lead implementation and coordination of cybersecurity programs across multiple systems and platforms. Conduct cybersecurity studies, assessments, surveys, and technical reviews of IT systems and infrastructure. Evaluate and design systems supporting database structure, access, and information management requirements. Analyze technical requirements and develop solutions supporting operational and mission objectives. Prepare and review technical specifications for IT-related procurements to ensure cybersecurity and technical requirements are properly addressed. Coordinate technical activities and provide direction or guidance to junior personnel and peers as required. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to IT reliability, cybersecurity posture, and operational performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience in IT systems, networking, telecommunications, cybersecurity, or systems administration. Experience coordinating technical activities and directing or mentoring peers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Desired Qualifications Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure and network operations. Experience with cybersecurity principles, vulnerability mitigation, and secure system administration. Strong understanding of network architecture, system administration, and IT infrastructure management.
