No Job Purpose:
The duties of the Retail Lead are to lead the day-to-day operation of The Inn's retail outlet, with the overall responsibility of the department and area. The Retail Lead purpose is to ensure that the level of service provided to the guest is highly individualized and that each guest feels that their comfort and convenience are the principal concerns of The Gasparilla Inn. The Retail Lead is expected to also act in the Retail Director's absence.
Job Duties:
Adheres to the Gasparilla Inn's 4 Steps to Memorable Service. Exhibits the Gasparilla Inn Core Values. Act with full authority within his/her scope to ensure resort policies and procedures are followed. Prepare work schedules for the staff, keeping in mind that the labor costs need to be maintained. Assist in shop when needed, Hire and train all staff to ensure uncompromising levels of service and emergency procedures. Manage all retail attendants to include proper progressive discipline and employee evaluations. Responsible for scheduling retail attendants and maintaining proper coverage for service levels. Be accountable for promoting constant communication between divisions and departments; between employees and management. Assess opportunities and guest complaints, taking proper, prompt, corrective action - ensuring the best possible satisfaction for the guest. Review and be familiar with all groups and arrivals for the day by making use of resumes, attending pre-convention meetings, and reviewing thoroughly the VIP, Special Attention and Repeat Guest Arrival listing. Attend staff meeting when applicable. Prepare special reports and handle special projects as directed. Monitor sales and review sales reports as needed to stay informed about trends. Responsible for restocking product in both shops. Delivery of products to Outlets with guidance from Retail Director. Perform and manage monthly inventory by ensuring all merchandise is maintained at a proper inventory level, rotation of items are completed and elimination of merchandise which is not turning. Communicate to Retail Director any low inventory. Advance retail to a store unlike a traditional gift shop in order to attract local as well as guest business. Ensure that the retail outlets are impeccable at all times. Ensure daily checklists are completed. Consistently evaluate the retail operation and initiate change to strive for continuous improvement. Ensure that each of the areas within scope of retail adhere to all hotel policies and procedures. Meet payroll and departmental expenses and budgets as forecasted. Ensure that all assigned personnel are properly inducted and oriented to the department. Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests throughout the hotel and maintain proper emergency procedures. Act as a mentor to team members, listening to complaints and concerns, take action and follow up. Establish a close working relationship with Controller and Accounts Payable to ensure ultimate cost of sales and profit margin are achieved. Assist the Retail Director when needed. All other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Assignments:
This position is almost equal in office setting and in various settings on the property. The position requires long periods of standing as well as bending, twisting, kneeling pushing, pulling, and a moderate degree of physical exertion while transporting equipment or guest items of which will be approximately 50 lbs. This position will need to be able to safely drive a golf cart and may have little exposure to outside weather conditions throughout the day. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Required:
2 years or more of previous retail experience 2 years or more of previous management experience
Preferred:
1 Year of Hospitality experience Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or similar related field.
