We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Inserter Operator to join our high-output mailing team. This hands-on role supports mail production by operating advanced inserting and inkjet systems, including W+D inserters and Kirk-Rudy (KR) inkjet lines. The ideal candidate brings mechanical ability, attention to detail, and a drive to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment. Summary The Inserter Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining inserting and inkjet mailing equipment to meet job specifications and postal requirements. This includes running W+D and KR systems, monitoring for quality, performing routine maintenance, and supporting production goals. Candidates should be mechanically inclined, comfortable with repetitive tasks, and able to follow detailed job instructions with precision. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate W+D inserters and KR inkjet systems according to job tickets and mailing specifications Load materials (envelopes, inserts, printed sheets, etc.) and calibrate equipment for proper alignment and output Monitor running jobs for quality and address any jams, misfeeds, or inconsistencies in real time Perform inkjet addressing, barcoding, and sorting tasks as required Complete first-piece checks and conduct ongoing visual inspection to ensure job accuracy Adjust machine settings to accommodate variable data, materials, or paper weights Set up and calibrate cameras, sensors, and matching systems to ensure accurate piece tracking and insert integrity Load and verify data files and templates prior to job start; ensure correct file-to-job alignment Perform regular quality control checks throughout production to verify matching accuracy, barcode readability, and overall print/mail quality Document and report quality issues, equipment performance, and deviations from job specs to supervisors promptly Perform daily and preventive maintenance on equipment and notify supervisor of mechanical issues Accurately track piece counts and ensure postal compliance for each job Follow all safety and production protocols while keeping the work area clean and organized Support staging and hand-off of completed mail trays for sorting, strapping, and dispatch Qualifications & Skills Minimum 2 years of experience operating inserting or inkjet mailing equipment (W+D, KR, or equivalent) Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot on the fly Understanding of USPS mail prep, addressing standards, and postal regulations preferred Ability to read and interpret job tickets, work orders, and quality standards Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable in a deadline-driven environment Willingness to work flexible shifts during high-output periods, including election cycles Willingness to work overtime as needed during peak production periods, including election cycles and high-demand seasons.
