Job Title:
Inspector Job Description The Inspector ensures products meet defined quality and workmanship standards by performing detailed inspections and tests using precision measurement and electrical test equipment. This role interprets engineering drawings and specifications, documents inspection results accurately, and collaborates closely with Engineering and Quality teams to support consistent product quality in a production environment. Responsibilities Inspect and test products using precision equipment such as plug gauges, micrometers, calipers, optical measuring machines, and electrical test equipment. Interpret engineering drawings, print specifications, and workmanship standards to determine product acceptance or rejection. Accurately document and maintain inspection and test reports in accordance with established procedures. Monitor multiple inspection tasks simultaneously to ensure timely completion and support production schedules. Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to clarify print specifications, workmanship processes, and inspection criteria. Follow technical documentation, work instructions, and specifications to perform consistent and repeatable inspections. Support quality control activities related to inspection, assembly, production, sampling, and packing as needed. Verify product characteristics such as color match and visual appearance to meet quality standards. Assist with inventory-related checks and verification of components used in production and assembly lines. Handle and inspect power tools, assemblies, and samples safely and in accordance with quality procedures. Work at a bench for the majority of the day, using a computer to enter data and generate inspection reports. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all workplace safety and quality guidelines. Essential Skills 1-3 years of quality inspection experience preferred in a production environment. Experience with inspection, assembly, and quality control in a manufacturing or production setting. Ability to use precision measurement tools such as plug gauges, micrometers, calipers, and optical measuring machines. Ability to use electrical test equipment to evaluate product performance. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in inspection and documentation. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, print specifications, and workmanship standards. Ability to follow technical documentation, work instructions, and specifications consistently. Basic PC skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple inspection tasks at once. Comfort working with production samples, assemblies, and products on an assembly line. Ability to verify attributes such as color match, visual appearance, and overall workmanship. Reliability and consistency in following established quality and safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1-2 years of experience in a production environment is ideal, but candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong aptitude and cultural fit. Experience in roles requiring high attention to detail, such as healthcare, nursing home, or pharmaceutical environments, is beneficial. Familiarity with quality control processes related to production, sample evaluation, inventory checks, packing, and assembly line operations. Comfort working with power tools and production equipment in a controlled environment. Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, and Production team members. Willingness to learn and adapt to specific product standards, inspection methods, and internal systems. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and organization in daily work. Work Environment This role is based in a very clean, well-kept workshop within a company of approximately 75 employees. The position is on the first shift, with hours typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Inspector will spend about 75% of the day seated at a bench performing inspections and working on a computer to enter data and complete reports. The environment involves working with precision measurement tools, electrical test equipment, production samples, and assemblies on or supporting an assembly line. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and a professional atmosphere, with a structured schedule and a focus on quality and safety in daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
