Job Description

Inspector / Slitter Operator is responsible for inspecting printed label rolls for quality and accuracy while operating slitting equipment to convert master rolls into finished products according to customer specifications. This role ensures that all labels meet established quality standards, including print registration, color consistency and defect-free output. The position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to production schedules and a commitment to safety and efficiency. The Inspector / Slitter Operator works closely with production and quality teams to identify issues, minimize waste and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality label products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe work environment. Operate slitting and rewinding equipment to convert master rolls into finished rolls according to job specifications. Inspect printed labels throughout the slitting process to ensure compliance with quality standards, including print registration, color accuracy, die cutting and overall appearance. Identify, document and remove defective material, ensuring only acceptable product is released. Set up machines, including blade alignment, tension control and core placement to meet job requirements and minimize waste. Verify job tickets, specifications and customer requirements prior to and during production runs. Accurately label and stage finished rolls for shipment in accordance with company procedures. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain efficiency, quality and productivity. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of slitting equipment to ensure optimal operation. Collaborate with Management, Quality, Press Operators, and Production teams to resolve issues and improve processes. Maintain accurate production records, including quantities, waste and downtime, while supporting continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste and rework and minimize downtime.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in manufacturing or production environment preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify print defects, inconsistencies and quality issues. Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up and adjust equipment. Ability to read and interpret job tickets, specifications and work instructions. Basic math skills for measurement, count and material usage. Ability to use inspection tools and equipment such as calipers, counting devices or vision systems. Ability to read a ruler. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials (typically 10 - 50lbs).
