Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary A Catholic Instructional Aide supports the classroom teacher in creating a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that fosters the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The instructional aid will assist in implementing lesson plans, providing individualized support to students, and maintaining a classroom atmosphere aligned with the mission and vision of the school, as outlined by the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).
Job Responsibilities Faith Formation and Integration:

  • -Model and promote Catholic values in all interactions.
  • Support integration of faith-based principles in classroom activities.
  • Help create a respectful, inclusive environment reflecting Catholic teachings.
  • Assist in liturgies, prayer services, and religious celebrations.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to implement lesson plans and activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group support for individual learning needs.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and maintaining organization.
  • Support the use of technology to enhance learning.
Instructional Support:

Student Development:

  • Monitor behavior and reinforce expectations for a Christ-centered environment.
  • Assist with assessing progress and providing feedback to the teacher.
Classroom Management:

  • -Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom.
  • Support the teacher with routines and transitions.
  • Address minor conflicts and escalate issues as needed.
Community Engagement:

  • -Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in events, activities, and service projects promoting Catholic values.
  • Serve as a role model of faith, service, and respect. Job Requirements style="list-style-type:disc
  • -High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a childcare or school setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries.
  • Commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass background check and meet diocesan safe environment requirements.
