Until Filled Soda Creek Elementary School is seeking a qualified Instructional Paraprofessional (Title 1) for the 2026/27 school year. SSSD is consistently awarded "Accredited with Distinction" by the Colorado Department of Education and ranked as a top school district in the state. Our schools offer curriculum and academic programs designed to give students the skills they need to compete in college and the workplace. PAY RANGE
$26.11 - $29.59, depending on experience. Based on a maximum of 9 years' experience, see salary schedule here. This is a full-time position, with 173 work days, based on school schedule.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the Intervention, Title 1 teacher and General Education teachers to determine the instructional needs of each Title 1 student. Attend informal meetings with Title I teacher/ Intervention teacher or classroom teacher re: specific student needs. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials and skills initially introduced and outlined by licensed staff. Creates lesson plans for one-on-one or small group instruction based on student needs using research- based programs as identified by the READ Act. Implements instruction based on students' goals from individual learning plans (READ Plan, IEP, and/or 504). Modify grade-level curriculum to best target student needs. Administers reading and math assessments to identify the level of student achievement. Maintains student files as required by the needs of federal, state, and local guidelines to track student progress. Assists the Title 1/ Intervention teacher or classroom teacher with gathering a variety of data that is needed for reporting to local, State and/or Federal agencies. Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned. Communicates goals and academic expectations to all involved in student progress. Performs clerical and instructional duties as assigned by licensed staff. Alerts licensed staff to any problem or special information about an individual student. Ability to impact student achievement through mentoring, motivation, and monitoring practices. Utilize strategies in supporting students' academic program in reading and math Develops and maintains a Title 1 classroom environment that is conducive to effective student learning, including management of discipline and student conflict. When requested, serves as a resource person to the General Education Intervention Team. Understands, accepts, and abides by the Steamboat Springs School District philosophy and mission statement in all school activities. Participates in professional development, building, and district meetings as requested. Ability to maintain discipline and manage conflicts between students. Works professionally and cooperatively with others to achieve duties and responsibilities Able to work the schedule assigned and be regularly in attendance at work, and on time. Assists with the planning of activities for Title 1 Parent Involvement. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's, or Associate's degree, or min 48 hrs course work at an institution of higher education Or a High School Diploma or GED, and proof of passing the ETS Parapro with a minimum score of 460 or higher. Or High School Diploma or GED and proof of passing the ACT Workkeys with the minimum passing scores: Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (Score of 4) and Reading for Information/Workplace Documents (Score of 4) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and parents Experience in working with disadvantaged and at-risk youth High level of proficiency in clerical and computer skills
Preferred:
Willing/able to complete and receive a certificate for the CDE Science of Reading program Ability to maintain confidentiality Bilingual skills helpful

Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District .
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and Board of Education.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
Technology Skills:
Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
Other Skills And Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
