Responsibilities Perform minimally invasive vascular access procedures such as fistulograms, graft interventions, and catheter placements to optimize dialysis access. Conduct diagnostic imaging and interpret results using medical imaging tools like ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and CT scans to guide interventions accurately. Manage complex cases involving perioperative care, critical care nephrology, and acute kidney injury with a focus on patient safety and comfort. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including cardiology, radiology, and primary care to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and post-procedure care to promote adherence and health literacy. Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient assessments, and clinical notes within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms. Stay current with advances in interventional radiology techniques and nephrology research to continually improve practice standards. Skills Extensive knowledge of nephrology principles combined with proficiency in interventional radiography and catheterization techniques. Experience with medical imaging modalities including ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT scans, and nuclear medicine for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Familiarity with EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation and patient record management. Strong understanding of vascular access management, including fistula creation and maintenance for dialysis patients. Critical care experience in settings such as ICU or neurocritical care environments is highly desirable. Ability to perform airway management, suturing, and aseptic techniques during invasive procedures.
