Job Description

Position Summary Outpost Campers is a growing truck camper manufacturer producing premium, purpose-built campers for adventure-minded customers. As our Inventory & Materials Manager, you will be the operational backbone of our supply chain — ensuring the right parts are in the right place at the right time so our production team can build exceptional products without interruption. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role that sits at the intersection of purchasing, warehousing, and manufacturing support in a tight-knit 20-person shop environment. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management Own and manage all raw material, component, and finished goods inventory across the facility Maintain accurate inventory records using our ERP/inventory management system Assist with implementation and improvement of ERP/inventory management system Conduct regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories; investigate and reconcile discrepancies Establish and monitor reorder points, safety stock levels, and lead times for all SKUs Organize and maintain the warehouse, storage areas, and staging zones for maximum efficiency Receiving & Materials Handling Receive, inspect, and process all inbound shipments; verify quantities and quality against purchase orders Coordinate with freight carriers and vendors to resolve shipping discrepancies or damaged goods Label, organize, and properly store all incoming materials in designated locations Manage outbound shipment logistics for warranty parts, returns, and customer orders as needed Work hand-in-hand with accounting ensuring accurate inventory receiving and reporting Purchasing & Vendor Relations Generate and manage purchase orders for direct materials, components, and consumables Source and evaluate new vendors; obtain competitive quotes and negotiate pricing and lead times Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure reliability and cost efficiency Track open POs and expedite critical materials to prevent production delays Identify opportunities to consolidate vendors or reduce material costs without sacrificing quality Bills of Materials (BOMs) & Kitting Create, maintain, and continuously improve Bills of Materials for all camper models and sub-assemblies Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure BOMs accurately reflect current builds Pick, stage, and deliver kitted materials to the production floor per the build schedule Identify BOM errors or material shortages ahead of production and proactively communicate with the team Continuous Improvement & Reporting Track and report key metrics: inventory accuracy, fill rates, PO on-time delivery, and material costs Propose and implement process improvements in receiving, storage, kitting, and purchasing workflows Assist in forecasting material requirements based on production schedules and sales projections Support new product introductions by sourcing materials and building initial BOMs Qualifications Ideal 2+ years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or materials coordination — ideally in a manufacturing environment Proficiency with inventory management or ERP software (e.g., Odoo, NetSuite, Fishbowl, or similar) Demonstrated experience creating and managing Bills of Materials Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop/warehouse environment Self-starter who can manage competing priorities with minimal supervision Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace (especially spreadsheets) Preferred Experience in RV, automotive, marine, or specialty vehicle manufacturing Background in vendor sourcing, negotiation, or procurement Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or similar continuous improvement methodologies Forklift certification or willingness to obtain Knowledge of truck camper components and systems (a plus, not a requirement)
