Job Description

Inventory Control Manager Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Control Manager to oversee and maintain accurate inventory levels across our yard and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining proper stock levels of raw materials and finished goods, forecasting future material needs based on customer demand and production schedules, and improving overall inventory processes and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, warehouse and inventory management experience, and the ability to work closely with purchasing, operations, sales, and production teams. Key Responsibilities Inventory Accuracy & Control Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products. Conduct routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly. Implement and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices. Ensure proper receiving, storage, transfer, and shipment processes are followed. Warehouse & Yard Management Oversee organization and inventory flow throughout the warehouse and yard. Monitor inventory locations and ensure materials are properly labeled and tracked. Improve warehouse efficiency and material handling processes. Coordinate with warehouse staff to maintain clean and organized storage areas. Inventory Planning & Forecasting Forecast material requirements based on sales orders, production schedules, and historical usage. Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of raw materials and finished goods. Work closely with purchasing and operations teams to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Analyze inventory trends and recommend reorder quantities and stocking strategies. Reporting & Analysis Generate inventory reports, usage trends, and forecasting data. Track key inventory metrics including turns, shortages, overages, and obsolete inventory. Identify opportunities for cost savings and inventory optimization. Support month-end and year-end inventory reconciliation processes. Leadership & Collaboration Work closely with operations, purchasing, production, and sales departments. Train and supervise inventory personnel as needed. Promote accountability and continuous improvement within the inventory process. Qualifications 3+ years of inventory control, warehouse management, or supply chain experience. Strong understanding of inventory systems and warehouse operations. Experience with ERP or inventory management software. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, steel, pipe, industrial distribution, or related industries. Knowledge of forecasting and inventory planning methods. Forklift and warehouse safety knowledge. Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to work in both office and warehouse/yard environments. Ability to stand, walk, and inspect inventory throughout the facility. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required.
