Job Description

General Summary The Inventory/Distribution Clerk is responsible for the daily distribution, inventory and receiving functions for the department, as well as other related storeroom duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receives all shipments and inspects all items for damages, verifying accuracy and completeness of shipments. Watches for any refrigerated packages to be delivered urgently to end user. Check expiration dates/manufacture dates for items on shelves and when receiving. Rotating old stock to front, new stock to back Enters receiving for all inventory and non-stock purchase orders into MMIS and scans packing slips into archival system daily. Places stock into inventory shelves while inspecting all items for accuracy and damages. Checks all incoming stock to ensure special orders are handled appropriately. Checks incoming stock to ensure all items have been received correctly into the MMIS system. Verifies completeness of shipments and places stock neatly on assigned shelves, according to predetermined location codes, placing new product behind existing. Enters manual requests for stock into the MMIS system to generate pick lists. Organizes pick list by scheduled delivery dates and times to ensure all orders are delivered as scheduled. Picks storeroom orders as needed via standard procedure; delivers supplies as needed to appropriate area in a timely manner; and checks orders for accuracy of picked items. Pulls outdated supplies from shelves and reports it immediately to Inventory Distribution Manager. Delivers orders to user departments and obtains signatures and print, while checking for outdates on all stock to be delivered to ensure that no outdated stock is delivered to the end user. Maintains complete log of all incoming packages that do not have purchase orders numbers for delivery and tracking purposes. Maintains complete logs of all outgoing shipments, to include UPS, Federal Express, and common carriers by preparing UPS, Fed Ex, and other outbound shipments in a manner to ensure accuracy and same day dispatch; packaging, weighing, and calculating zones of all shipments correctly; and promptly contacting scheduled shippers to ensure daily pickup of packages. Maintains storeroom by keeping shelves neat and orderly on a daily basis; keeps aisles free of clutter; keeps all stock off the floor and at least 18" from sprinkler heads, within Joint Commission/State standards. Empties trash and sweeps daily; and dusts all flat surfaces at least monthly. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Work Experience At least one year of storeroom/warehouse experience preferred but not required Certification/License Not applicable. Mental/Physical Requirements Work can be moderately stressful, requiring lengthy periods of concentrated effort. Requires the physical ability to stoop, bend, and walk at least 70% of the shift. Consistent lifting of 25-50 lbs, team lifting excess of 50 lbs occasionally. Working Conditions Work is performed under the following conditions: approximately 20% in a standard air conditioned office environment, 30% in an air conditioned storeroom environment, and 50% on an outside dock exposed to external conditions. Noise levels may vary from light (office machinery) to moderately heavy (truck noises, engineering equipment).
