Job Summary Come work for the Gambling Control Board where you can help ensure the integrity of charitable gambling for the State of Minnesota. This position conducts evaluations and investigations to determine compliance of lawful gambling rules and statutes.Responsibilities include:
Evaluate and investigate alleged and suspected gaming irregularities and allegations of fraud to determine compliance with lawful gambling rules and statutes. Interview witnesses and individuals suspected of lawful gambling fraud; collect and analyze evidence; subpoena witnesses and records; prepare reports with recommendations. Assist in the regulation of lawful gambling by providing guidance and training to gambling industry personnel and board staff, evaluating and recommending regulations, and assisting local law enforcement officials. Evaluate and test gambling products prior to sale in Minnesota; provide recommendations regarding approval or denial. Provide lead work direction or technical assistance to staff from other agencies relating to regulations, licensure, and compliance. Provide city, county, and state attorneys with information necessary for effective prosecution.Telework info:
This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the office will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. Existing employees who were approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move further away. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications •To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held. ex) May 2023 to June 2025 •Two (2) years of professional level experience conducting criminal and/or civil investigations. Applicants who meet the above experience requirement will be further evaluated based on the following: Experience with computer software systems sufficient to understand reporting and analyze expected versus actual outcomes. Experience using math and/or accounting principles to detect fraudulent schemes, identify/uncover pertinent evidence and make correct deductions and inferences. Experience interviewing subjects and witnesses. Experience writing investigative reports. Knowledge of procedures for gathering and documenting evidence. A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, paralegal, law enforcement, accounting, finance, economics, business administration, public administration or related field as determined by the agency may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of lawful gambling regulations and industry games. Master's Degree or advanced training (e.g., degrees, certificates, coursework) in law enforcement, criminal justice, forensic accounting, or similar field. Experience in law enforcement or other government investigative or regulatory enforcement. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this position, the employee must have: Ability to move throughout the building while performing physical inspections of gambling premises or storage facilities. Ability to move gambling equipment up to 60 lbs. and transport back to the office. Maintain vehicle, insurance, class D driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
