Irrigation Technician

Cheeney Landscaping, Inc. is seeking a skilled Irrigation Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems for residential, commercial, and municipal landscape projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with irrigation systems, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to delivering quality work in the field.

Responsibilities:

Irrigation Installation:

Install drip, spray, and rotor-based irrigation systems according to design plans and specifications. Trench, lay pipe, and connect mainlines, laterals, valves, and heads. Install and program irrigation controllers and smart control systems.

System Maintenance & Repair:

Perform seasonal startups, winterizations, and mid-season inspections. Diagnose and repair system issues including broken heads, valve failures, leaks, and controller malfunctions. Adjust coverage patterns and flow rates to ensure efficient water distribution.

Safety & Quality Control:

Follow all safety protocols and company procedures on job sites. Perform daily inspections of tools and equipment and report any issues to a supervisor. Ensure all work meets local codes, project specifications, and company standards.

Team Collaboration:

Work alongside landscaping crews to coordinate irrigation installation with other site work. Assist with general landscaping duties as needed.

Requirements:

Previous experience with irrigation installation or maintenance preferred - Will train the right candidate. Valid driver's license required; ability to operate company vehicles and pull trailers. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Familiarity with irrigation controllers, valve systems, and reading irrigation plans is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Willingness to travel
