Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician - IV Certified Job Type Direct Hire Provide critical technical support to pharmacists in a dynamic pharmacy setting serving Southeast Alaska's residents. This direct hire position offers the opportunity to work under the supervision of pharmacists while playing a vital role in medication preparation, inventory management, and patient assistance.
Location:
Sitka, AK Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities:
Support pharmacists by retrieving, counting, labeling medications, and maintaining robotic dispensing systems. Conduct inventory, stock medications, and handle pharmaceutical orders accurately. Assist customers at the pharmacy window and via telephone, managing prescription refills and providing information within scope. Maintain sterile compounding areas, clean pharmacy equipment, and ensure proper documentation and compliance. Monitor emergency and crash carts, refrigerator temperatures, and maintain a clean, organized pharmacy environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Alaska Pharmacy Technician license required at hire. Certified Pharmacy Technician credential required within one year of hire. Clinical Competency and High-Risk Competency assessments required within 3 months of hire and ongoing every three years. 1-2 years of healthcare or customer service experience preferred. Strong knowledge of drug names, pharmaceutical terminology, pharmacy law, and automated pharmacy equipment. Skills in sterile compounding, hazardous drug handling, and dosage calculations. Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams and respond promptly in emergencies.
