Janitor

Job Summary The janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, or commercial facilities. This role ensures all areas are sanitized, presentable, and functional. Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly Refill supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, fixing leaks if trained) Report repairs or safety hazards to management Follow cleaning schedules and safety procedures Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely Requirements & Skills High school diploma or equivalent (sometimes optional) Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred Ability to operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, buffers, etc.) Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety practices Physical stamina (standing, lifting, bending) Attention to detail and reliability Good time management skills Working Conditions May require early mornings, evenings, or weekends Physical work involving lifting, walking, and standing for long periods Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures
