Job Description
Job Summary Genesee Junior/Senior High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Cheer Coach for the upcoming seasonal cheerleading program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cheerleading, experience in coaching or leading cheer teams, and a strong commitment to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit among students. This position offers the opportunity to inspire and mentor young athletes, encouraging personal growth and athletic development within a supportive school environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive cheerleading program that aligns with the school's values and goals. Plan and conduct regular practices, focusing on skill development, choreography, and team dynamics. Teach cheerleading techniques, including stunts, jumps, tumbling, and dance routines. Organize and prepare the cheer team for participation in school events, competitions, and community activities. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship among all participants. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and team progress. Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to safety guidelines and protocols during practices and performances. Collaborate with other coaches and staff to support the overall athletic program and school spirit initiatives. Attend mandatory coaching meetings and training sessions as required. Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and progress for each team member. Requirements Previous experience in cheerleading, coaching, or a related field is preferred. Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, safety practices, and competition rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to work effectively with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. First Aid and CPR certification is a plus but not required. Must be available for the duration of the cheerleading season, including practices, games, and events. A positive attitude, enthusiasm for cheerleading, and a commitment to promoting a healthy and supportive team environment. Background check and compliance with school district policies are required prior to employment.
