Job Title:
Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role performs a wide range of industrial electrical work, including inspection, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning activities for a large project site. The journeyman electrician ensures safe and reliable electrical systems from initial inspection through energization, while maintaining high quality and compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities Perform electrical inspections on equipment and systems to verify proper installation, function, and compliance with codes and project specifications. Complete punch list items by identifying, correcting, and clearing electrical deficiencies prior to project milestones and handover. Support equipment (EQ) startup by installing, connecting, and verifying electrical components for new and existing industrial equipment. Carry out electrical commissioning activities, including testing, calibration, and verification of electrical systems and controls. Perform system energization in a safe and controlled manner, following all applicable safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices. Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, components, and equipment using appropriate tools and test instruments. Troubleshoot electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs or corrective actions to minimize downtime. Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to guide installation, repair, and commissioning work. Coordinate work with other trades and team members in a large warehouse environment to ensure efficient project execution. Use RMS meters and other test equipment to verify voltages, currents, continuity, and overall system performance. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety requirements. Apply supervisory skills as needed to guide apprentice-level electricians and support their development on the job. Essential Skills Valid journeyman or apprentice electrician license. Proven journeyman-level experience performing industrial electrical work, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices and applicable electrical codes. Demonstrated ability to conduct electrical inspections, punch list clearing, and equipment startup support. Hands-on experience with electrical commissioning and system energization in an industrial or large project setting. Proficiency in using RMS meters and other standard electrical test instruments. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. Solid troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues safely and efficiently. OSHA 10 certification. Capability to provide basic supervisory guidance to apprentice-level electricians. Ability to supply and effectively use personal hand tools, RMS meters, and PPE required for daily electrical work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in large warehouse or industrial environments. Experience in both new installations and repair/maintenance of industrial electrical systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing punch list items accurately and on time. Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams and other trades. Organizational skills to manage tasks, tools, and documentation in a fast-paced project environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place in a large warehouse environment, with in-warehouse transportation provided to move between work areas and equipment locations. The setting is industrial and fast-paced, involving work around active equipment, electrical systems, and other trades. You will regularly use your own hand tools, RMS meters, and personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing tasks such as inspections, installations, repairs, and commissioning. The role requires adherence to all on-site safety procedures and OSHA 10 standards, and comfort working in a large indoor facility with significant walking and equipment access throughout the day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Taylor, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.29 - $42.79/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
