Job Description
REPORTS:
Principal (and/or other designated building administrators)JOB GOAL
To help students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that society feels will contribute to their development into mature, able and responsible men and women.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Shall build positive relationships with and between school and community. 2. Shall write and speak effectively. 3. Shall guide the development of curriculum and instructional materials. 4. Shall demonstrate effective listening, conflict resolution, and group facilitation skills as a team member. 5. Shall communicate a breadth of content knowledge across the subject(s) taught. 6. Shall communicate a current knowledge of subject(s) taught. 7. Shall demonstrate an overall knowledge of one's subject(s) that allows the teacher to teach to the students' ability levels and learning styles. 8. Shall connect content knowledge to real-world applications. 9. Shall develop instruction that requires students to apply knowledge, skills, and thinking processes. 10. Shall include creative and appropriate use of technologies (e.g., audiovisual equipment, computers, lab equipment etc.) to improve student learning. 11. Shall develop and implement appropriate assessment processes. 12. Shall develop and incorporate learning experiences that encourage students to be adaptable, flexible, resourceful and creative. 13. Shall use knowledge acquired from past teaching experiences to anticipate instructional challenges. 14. Shall communicate with and challenge students in a supportive manner and provide students with constructive feedback. 15. Shall maintain positive classroom interaction by establishing appropriate expectations during group activities. 16. Shall exhibit levels of professionalism including, but not limited to, confidence in the classroom, proper preparation on a daily basis, polite standards of behavior when interacting with or addressing individuals and groups, maintain appropriate tidiness and dress, and observe punctuality. 17. Shall communicate specific goals and high expectations for learning. 18. Shall model/demonstrate the skills, concepts, attributes, and/or thinking processes to be learned. 19. Shall stimulate students to reflect on their own ideas and those of others. 20. Shall make effective use of media and technologies. 21. Shall provide opportunities for students to use and practice what is learned. 22. Shall identify student misconceptions; provide guidance; and offer students continuous feedback on progress toward expectations. 23. Shall perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Principal.SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree or higher and the required Indiana certificate for the assigned position. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from administrators, faculty, students, or parents. Ability to effectively present information to students, peers, principals and assistant principals, public groups, and/or members of the community as needed.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.OTHER SKILLS
Ability to perform keyboarding, document formatting, word processing, and other technology skills appropriate to the functions of this job. Ability to communicate with people in a positive and constructive manner.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
