Job Overview About Phoenix House Phoenix House is a residential transitional space designed to provide safe, structured housing for dogs in between foster placement and/or adoption. It serves as a supportive, temporary home for dogs awaiting foster availability, decompression, medical clearance, behavioral assessment, or adoption placement. The goal of Phoenix House is stability, structure, enrichment, and compassionate care while each dog prepares for their next chapter. Position Summary The Phoenix House Manager is responsible for the daily care, supervision, and overall well-being of dogs residing at Phoenix House. This individual ensures a safe, clean, calm, and structured environment while supporting medical needs, enrichment, volunteer coordination, and communication with the rescue team. This role requires hands-on animal care, strong organizational skills, and the ability to make thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced rescue environment. Duties Key Responsibilities Animal Care & Welfare Provide daily feeding, medication administration, and monitoring Facility Management Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized residential environment Perform daily cleaning and disinfecting of kennels, crates, bedding, and common areas Monitor supplies and coordinate restocking (food, cleaning products, medical supplies) Ensure compliance with all local and state kennel regulations Medical & Behavioral Support Administer medications as directed by veterinary partners Track medical records and ensure documentation is up to date Assist with behavioral enrichment plans and training reinforcement Administrative & Communication Duties Maintain daily logs for each dog Communicate status updates to leadership Report any emergencies or incidents immediately Ensure appropriate exercise, enrichment, and structured downtime Conduct basic behavioral observations and report concerns Support decompression protocols for newly arrived dogs Maintain individualized care plans for each resident dog Qualifications Prior experience with dog training or handling is highly desirable. Knowledge of pet grooming, pet sitting, or animal care enhances your ability to excel in this role. Demonstrated ability in animal handling and restraint techniques ensures the safety of both animals and staff. Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods is required. Previous kennel experience or animal handling training is preferred but not mandatory; a passion for animal welfare is essential.
