In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and comfortable kennels, assisting with animal handling, and supporting veterinary staff with daily tasks. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to work closely with animals, enhance your animal husbandry skills, and contribute to the well-being of pets and their owners. Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and animal housing areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and medication administration to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Handle animals gently and confidently, including dogs, cats, and other small pets, following proper animal handling techniques. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with basic procedures such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior. Administer medications under supervision according to veterinary instructions while adhering to aseptic techniques. Record detailed notes on animal condition, behavior, feeding schedules, and treatments in medical records. Support laboratory procedures by collecting samples or assisting with diagnostic tests as needed. Qualifications Previous kennel experience or background in animal husbandry is highly preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic laboratory procedures is advantageous. Experience with veterinary clinic operations or as a veterinary assistant is a plus. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and cats; familiarity with equine experience is a bonus. Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations or treatments. Competency in medication administration and aseptic techniques to prevent infection or contamination.
