Job Description

Operate kilns to dry lumber before going through the planer mill. Maintain kilns in good working order. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, provided it does not create an undue hardship on the Company. The hourly rate for this position is $23.37 per hour.
Daily Job Duties:
Use kiln computer program to monitor proper drying for a quality product. Maintain records and reports for SPIB. Load lumber on tracks and in kilns. Attach wet bulb socks and check water supply. Make sure all moisture meter wanes are in place and hooked up. Service kilns and equipment
  • as needed. Make rounds of the kilns to ensure fans are running guards are in place and valves are functioning properly. Inspect kiln hydraulic units for leaks, fluid levels and keep containments empty and clean. Grease kiln carts before each pass-through kiln. Operate manlift, sky track, front end loader, and forklifts
  • as needed. Complete a 360° walkaround and check out equipment before operation. Use cutting torch and welding equipment
  • as needed. Assist boiler operator on large jobs and during rake outs
  • as needed. Help haul fuel to boilers
  • as needed. Maintain a clean work area. Assist boiler operator in monitoring boiler computers and alarms. Follow all applicable safety rules. Work your regular scheduled shift. Work overtime as scheduled
  • as required.
Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ensure forklift operators perform duties safely and efficiently as outlined in job description.
Requirements:
Good computer skills. Mechanical skills. Forklift Certification. Obtain boiler license within one year of start date.
