Job Description
Neosho County is accepting applications for the position of 911 Director of Communications. Applicants will be required to pass a CVSA (lie detector) test, drug test, and background investigation. Applicants must meet all position requirements, and have the ability to action the essential duties of the job. See below for the position requirements, and job essentials. Applications will be accepted from now until May 15, 2026 . Applicants must completely fill out the county application. Job Purpose and Objectives:
Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining county-wide emergency communication services, policies and procedures for Neosho County.Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

Essential Functions include the following. Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Schedule and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity. Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, addresses employee concerns and problems, directs work, counsels, disciplines and completes employee performance appraisals Develops and reviews department policies and procedures Coordinates the goals, objectives and vision of the department Determines the training requirements and programs for all department staff Develops efficient records, reporting systems, schedules, and studies of development for the needs of the community Maintains records, submits periodic reports and recommends to the 911 Advisory Board Assists in overseeing and maintaining grant opportunities for the department Oversees maintenance, repairs and contracts for departmental equipment to including radio, computer and other Attends communications related meetings, classes, and seminars Prepares an annual budget and improvement plan with the Board of County Commissioners Supervises and maintains licensing activities and regulations involving all federal, state and local government agencies Oversees grant activity and ensures all equipment, software and virus protection meets KHP standards Ensures technical audits and NCIC audits are within State & Federal regulations Establishes a memorandum of understanding with other counties in the event that the county's communication center fails Responsible for radio licensing and mandates Ability to function as a 911 dispatcher, and perform all necessary duties Acts as a liaison with the emergency departments served by the 911 communications center Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances Performs technical audits, and annual 911 audits Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed Protects and maintains any confidential information you have access to, whether oral, written, or electronicPosition Requirements and Qualifications:

High school diploma or other equivalent Reliable transportation to work Associate's degree preferred Ability to pass a CVSA, drug screening and KBI investigation background Ten years of emergency dispatching, and/or law enforcement experience required Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered Five years of supervisory or management experience preferred Certifications /Licenses:
Valid Driver's LicenseNCIC NG911 EMD KCJIS
Lauchpad LASO certification through the state of KansasIS 300 & IS 400
